Set out on the Grande Traversée du Massif Central (GTMC) on a mountain bike! An itinerary for all thrill seekers. It is open to all, and even occasional mountain bikers will find stages adapted to their level. It is fully accessible to electric mountain bikes

It is the longest Grande Traversée VTT of France. It has nearly 1380 km of routes from Avallon in Burgundy to the beaches of Cap d’Agde.
The route is divided into 31 stages with the possibility of tailoring your own program. This makes the GTMC an extremely rich tourist proposal.

The Morvan section

For the Morvan section, the GTMC is 330 km of pleasure and altitude changes. The departure is from Avallon via Quarré les Tombes, Saulieu, the Great Lakes of Morvan, up the Morvan mountain to then reach Autun through the pearl of Burgundy Uchon.

Prepare your route

To prepare your itinerary, a dedicated website offers to download a free GPX route. You can also consult the edition of two very detailed “Topoguides”. You can find lots of useful information. There is purely topographical data, indications relating to accommodations, and information on the cultural heritage of the sites crossed.
